On Sunday, September 21, 2008 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, the Peace Flag Project (PFP) is sponsoring Providence’s fifth annual celebration of the UN International Day of Peace in Burnside Park, Kennedy Plaza, downcity Providence. The American Friends Service Committee of Southeast New England and International Institute Rhode Island are also sponsoring the event. It is free and open to the public. This is a peace event, not an antiwar event. Â

Just caught wind of a ride-sharing website called GoLoco.
It connects people so they can carpool to places. Simple as that, but very useful, I’d imagine. Of course it’s not as cool as riding a bike, but it’s better than driving alone.

A deadly combo: bicycles and rock and/or roll. Â
Alex contacted this band a while back after reading an appeal for booking shows in Rhode Island on the RAB listserve. Now the dream is a reality!! The Ginger Ninjas are going to play on Sunday Sept. 21st 1-4pm during Mechanics a Go-Go at the Armory Park (map). For those of you who work like suckers on Sunday afternoons (suckers who are making time and a half), the band is also playing a show on Sat. Sept. 20th at the Thunderdome - 139 Wood St. Providence (map), show starts at 8pm.
The Ginger Ninjas are not only touring by bicycle without any support vehical (hauling all of their equiptment from sunny CA) they power their amps and mics by bicycle generator. I havn’t actually listened more than a quick soundclip from a youtube video that documented their recent tour through Mexico, but they sound genuinely upbeat (and kinda jammy?). Â
So wear your dancin’ pants to MAGG on 9-21.
