It’s springtime. That means a few things.
1. You no longer have an excuse to not ride a bicycle in New England.
2. We have a lot of preparation to do at Recycle-a-Bike.
3. We’re going to be having regular work sessions Saturdays noon to 4 at The Steel Yard (pending fair weather), while enjoying day-old bread and pastries generously donated by Seven Stars Bakery.

So come lend a hand. You can trade in volunteer hours to earn bikes and/or parts. But note, if there is water and/or electricity coming from the sky, the work day is canceled.

Price: $271
Instructor: Chris Bull
Time: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Dates: Mondays, 3/30 – 5/18

Building Bike Trailers class description:
The goal of this class is for every student to build a bicycle trailer out of primarily recycled parts. Each trailer will be fine tuned to the student’s needs; for example, carrying groceries or hauling landscaping tools. We’ll start with a survey of different _trailer designs, discussing the pros and cons of each type, and work together to help each student determine the best design for their needs. Then we’ll hit the scrap pile and find used wheels, forks, and tubing to make the designs a reality. By the end of the class each student should have a functional trailer. This course is for students who have taken one of our other welding courses or who have some previous welding experience. Steel will be provided for practice and exercise, but students must pay for additional steel needed for their personal projects.

This Saturday! Help Build Pink Rides!

March 21, 2009
12:00 PMto4:00 PM

This Saturday Recycle-a-Bike will be helping Pink Rides, RISD’s new bike sharing program, build the fleet of bikes. We need volunteers to help wrench.

Saturday March 21st, Noon- 4pm. at the Steel Yard.

We will be donating our tools and stands and they will bring the bikes. (We might also help them out with a couple bike/parts).

Pink Bikes is hoping to use this RISD model to expand to a Providence fleet next year. Super exciting!
