Bikes Not Bombs  has the opportunity to work with World Bike technicians and World Bike Founder, Ross Evans, to provide a workshop on how to build (in a hands-on workshop) an xtra-cycle  type extension cargo adaption.  To see more examples of these types of bike – extensions  log on to   (www.worldbike.org) then go to the “technologies” prompt.  Peruse the models including  ”drop and chop”    ”xtra-cycle”   &   “Big Boda”

               How to make  Xtra-Cycles  & Big Boda  Bikes
Dates :   Tues. May 6th, Wed. 5/7 and  Thurs. 5/8
The Time :  10 AM til 2 PM on 5/6 & 5/7   and  10 AM til 1PM on 5/8
(We will expect to break at least 1/2 for lunch each day )

Cost is  $ 60 dollars per person for the 3 days. (Please let me know if that price is impossible for you)   We will provide the materials. Call me if you have a Mig welder available.

• The finished bikes will be sent to projects in developing countries. 1 proto will stay here in Boston area for use by BNB.
(ok…   you can borrow it if you ask nicely)

• We will be making a video/digital docu-do of the fabrication process in order to be able to share this technology with workshops in many development projects where ever useful.

• We will be working in teams of 2-3 people to build a number of “bike extentions”

Requisites: Past metal working skills are required – but not lathe work – simple cutting, bending and drilling. Not all of us have to be welders, but we do need a fair number of welders to make this happen.   Prioritization is for individuals that are interested in passing this knowledge on to other people in developing countries or here in US. If you are involved in bicycle technology and would like to help address mobility issues and increase cargo capacities of the marginalized many please attend this workshop.
